Description
Join Wonder in the Wild for a day of nature play, hands-on environmental education, and outdoor skills practice designed especially for homeschool students (explorers)!
Explorers ages 5+ will:

Spend time playing in our outdoor classroom, using tools to explore nature, building obstacle courses and forts, concocting feasts in the mud kitchen, creating art, and discovering more about our weekly nature topic in our reading nook

Hike further into the woods and/or venture to the garden for guided environmental education activities, focusing on what is happening in nature around us

Practice outdoor skills such as composting, environmental field research, fire building and tending, cooking, shelter building, orienteering, and Leave No Trace ethics

School Year 2026-27
In 2026-27, we'll offer an entire year of Homeschool Days again! This program is scheduled for Thursdays from 10-3pm beginning September 17th and running through June 3. Our calendar mostly follows QACPS's calendar with additional extended seasonal breaks. The course is scheduled for 30 sessions.

We are offering a sliding scale for tuition for school year 2026-27 - choose the best option for your family and support the future of our programs, if you can.

$2250/year SUPER Sustainer option - supports our current programs AND helps us as we save for our permanent future location!

$2100/year Sustainer option - supports the full cost of our staff, supplies, and allows for more professional development and special programs

$1980/year Actual cost option - covers the actual cost of our staff and supplies

$1800/year Subsidized tuition option - we're happy to provide this discounted tuition rate for whoever needs it. This rate is available thanks to fundraisers and donations.

Partial scholarships may be available. Please email the Director, if tuition cost is prohibitive for your family.
Discounts available for siblings ($150/child) and parent participation beyond the required 1-2 days/year
Deposit of $150 due when registering. Remaining tuition will be collected in 3 payments due September 1, December 1, and March 1. Monthly payments available upon request. Payments must be made by check or ACH transfer. Credit card payments incur an extra 3.5% fee.
Ages
Activities designed primarily for ages 5-12. Older explorers may come as assistants at half price.
